Does a puppy's country of origin really matter?

It's not the country that makes the difference: people, structure, documents, and traceability are what count.

It's not the country of origin that determines if a puppy has been raised responsibly, but the people and structures behind it.

Naturally, puppy mills, illegal puppy trade, and problematic suppliers exist in Europe. This reality should not be minimized. At the same time, it would be wrong to judge puppies or breeders in a generalized way based on the country.

In every country of the European Union, there are serious, regulated, and responsible breeders who work with great dedication, competence, and love. A puppy from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, or another European country is not automatically good or bad.

The overall picture matters:

  • Are the documents complete and clean?
  • Do the microchip, passport, date of birth, and vaccinations match?
  • Has the puppy been checked by a vet?
  • How does it appear physically and emotionally?
  • Is communication transparent?
  • Is there clear information about the origin?
  • How many owners are listed in the passport?
  • Has the puppy been prepared and delivered correctly and legally?
