Why the Mother is Not Always Present

At 15 weeks it's normal: socialization, independence, and mother's recovery.

Many guides recommend always seeing the puppy's mother. It's a legitimate question, especially concerning very young puppies.

However, with a puppy around 15 weeks old, the situation needs to be evaluated more nuanced. At this age, vaccinations, immunization, parasite control, socialization, and preparation for a new family become particularly important.

Furthermore, puppies are already starting to teethe. Sucking can become annoying or even painful for the mother over time. That's why it's normal for the mother to gradually withdraw and for the puppies to become more independent step by step.

The mother also needs rest, recovery, and protection after raising the litter.
